Firefox quit working...

FireFox | General Computer Questions

I have been using Firefox for a while and I installed an updated version today and now it will not always work. Sometimes it works fine. Sometimes it will not load. When I close it I usually have to "end task" before I can open it again. I have tried uninstalling it and reinsalling it and I still have the same problem. What can I do to get it working again?

You may have bad extensions

There are several things that could be causing your problem. The most likely cause is that an extension that you installed in a previous version of FireFox is not compatible with the new version.

Go to the Tools Menu, then Extensions. Uninstall any extensions that you are not using. You typically have to close FireFox and reopen it to finish removing the extensions. You may have to "end task" the FireFox process after trying to uninstall the extensions. When you restart FireFox it will uninstall the extensions.

If you still have the problem once you have removed the extensions you do not use then you will have to continue removing extensions until you find the one causing the problem.

You may then be able to download a new version of the extension and reinstall it.

If the extensions are not the problem you may also have a corrupt FireFox profile or you may simply need to empty your FireFox cache folder. I'll add links to information about those as soon as I get it entered.
